Summer 2018, Back Forty Beer Company joined Birmingham’s thriving craft beer scene with the opening of a new microbrewery at Sloss Docks. Back Forty–Birmingham Owner & CEO, Douglas Brown, chose this location due to the dramatic views of Sloss Furnaces and the nearby active railway. The venue is the perfect spot for customers to drink a beer or two in the taproom or vast outdoor garden, do a little train watching, and enjoy the occasional live band. Back Forty Birmingham brewers, Tosh Brown and Jake Doggett, will brew popular core Back Forty beers (Naked Pig, Truck Stop Honey, Freckle Belly, Paw Paw’s, etc.) as well as a steady rotation of new experimental beers available only in the local market. And, the Back Forty Birmingham kitchen, under the leadership of executive chef Russ Bodner, offers a creative variety of American pub foods primarily sourced through local growers.
Living in the south is all about gathering with friends, sharing a meal and drinks, and enjoying great live music. In this spirit, Back Forty Beer Company and Big Spring Entertainment are pleased to present the Back Forty Social. This all-day, outdoor festival will feature the North Mississippi Allstars, Keller Williams, The Kitchen Dwellers, Little Raine Band, Soul Rebels, The Motet, Ryley Walker, and Spafford. A food tent managed by Chef Russ Bodner, and ran by Back Forty kitchen, will offer a variety of foods, including their award-winning burger. There will be an inside and outside bar for everyone and a private bar in the VIP lounge. Each bar will serve multiple taps dedicated to Back Forty’s craft beer, wine, signature cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
