Summer 2018, Back Forty Beer Company joined Birmingham’s thriving craft beer scene with the opening of a new microbrewery at Sloss Docks. Back Forty–Birmingham Owner & CEO, Douglas Brown, chose this location due to the dramatic views of Sloss Furnaces and the nearby active railway. The venue is the perfect spot for customers to drink a beer or two in the taproom or vast outdoor garden, do a little train watching, and enjoy the occasional live band. Back Forty Birmingham brewers, Tosh Brown and Jake Doggett, will brew popular core Back Forty beers (Naked Pig, Truck Stop Honey, Freckle Belly, Paw Paw’s, etc.) as well as a steady rotation of new experimental beers available only in the local market. And, the Back Forty Birmingham kitchen, under the leadership of executive chef Russ Bodner, offers a creative variety of American pub foods primarily sourced through local growers.
